About

By finance professionals, for finance professionals.

Postlock comes from ten-plus years of actually doing the job - and the conviction that the tools were solving the wrong problem.

We've done every rung of the ladder: bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, management accounts, year-end accounts and audit - through to running finance teams and being the person the board turns to when a PE fundraise needs numbers that hold up. Hundreds of month-end closes, at every level of the job. We know what works, and we know exactly where it hurts.

And the textbook schedules were never the hard part. The hard part was the balance nobody remembered, the change that slipped in after sign-off, and the auditor who wanted it all in a file, not a dashboard.

So Postlock does three things deliberately well: it remembers what every balance is, it watches locked periods for anything that moves, and it hands you a real Excel pack at the end. Nothing more, nothing it can't do safely.

The read-only promise

Postlock connects to Xero with read-only permissions and nothing else. It cannot post a journal, edit an invoice, or change a balance - by design. When it spots a problem, it names it and a human fixes it in Xero. Your ledger is never at risk from us, and we'll never ask for write access.

Why Postlock is built this way

What happened to the last close tool you paid for?

Every month-end tool wants to run your close inside its platform. Everyone knows how that ends - because it always ends the same way.

Month one

You buy a proper close tool. You're diligent. Every step ticked, every rec inside the platform. This is the new discipline.

The bad month

Then comes a WD1 close with no slack in it - and something in the tool won't clear. A sync stuck, a step blocked, a rec that refuses. Month-end doesn't wait for software. So you do what every finance professional does: close it in Xero, reconcile in Excel, build the pack there.

The month after

Now the tool wants last month loaded, reconciled and closed before it will look at this one. Hours of duplicating work you've already shipped. You'll get to it next month, you tell yourself. You don't.

Six months on

You're still paying £100 a month for a tab you haven't opened since March. You never cancel - next month you'll get back into it. Meanwhile the actual close lives in Excel, where everyone ends up.

With Postlock

Close wherever you like - Xero, Excel, our rec screens if they help. Postlock was never in the way. When a month is done, lock it and type the figure you reported. Two minutes, even three months late. It watches from there.
